Chains to GOST 30188-97 — our T8 line
GOST 30188-97 is the standard for calibrated high-strength lifting chains of class T(8). Our line is T8 chains to TU 25.93.17-002-06515248-2026 (the same purpose and the same system of standardised loads).
What GOST 30188-97 is
GOST 30188-97 “Calibrated high-strength lifting chains. Specifications” is an interstate standard in force in Russia since 2002. It covers welded calibrated high-strength chains of strength class T(8) (stress at the breaking load — at least 800 MPa), intended for operation on sprockets in chain hoists and other lifting devices.
The standard standardises the geometry (chain pitch 3d, link width 3.25d), the acceptance proof, technological and breaking loads, marking and acceptance rules. Important: chains to this standard are not intended for use as slings.
Our line
We manufacture calibrated high-strength lifting chains to our own TU 25.93.17-002-06515248-2026 (TU-002). Our TU states that the designation T(8) fully corresponds to quality class T(8) under GOST 30188-97; the marking “T8”, “8”, “G8”, “G80” is allowed. The standard is included in the list of documents referenced by our TU.
Our sizes are gauges from 4 to 16 mm. The loads (acceptance proof, technological, breaking) correspond to the GOST 30188-97 table: for example, for the 8 mm gauge — 40.3 / 48 / 80.6 kN.
How to select
- Take the gauge (d) and pitch (t) of the imported chain.
- Determine the required working load and calculate the breaking load with a safety factor (usually ×4 for lifting).
- Select the closest T8 size by breaking load or by gauge.
- Specify the version and the cut length; non-standard lengths — to order.
Important
Class T(8) chains are lifting chains, but not sling chains: both GOST 30188-97 and our TUs exclude their use as slings. For critical lifting operations, the requirements and documents are agreed separately with a technologist and the occupational safety service. The final conformity is confirmed by technical parameters for the specific task.
