Fitting anti-slip chains

2026-10-14

What's in the set

  • Anti-slip chain — 2 pcs.
  • Instruction manual — 1 pc.

Connecting links for repair are not included in the delivery set.

Fitting procedure

The chains are fitted on the drive wheels and installed before starting to drive on a slippery section.

  1. Lay the chain out next to the wheel.
  2. The tension chain must be on the outer side.
  3. Hook the side ends of the chain: first the inner hook, then the outer one.
  4. Thread the tension chain through the rings of the outer chain clockwise.
  5. Tension the tension chain using the special tensioning lever.
  6. Hook the end of the tension chain with the spring onto a free link — the chain is fitted.

After driving about 500 metres following the fitting, stop and re-tighten the chain.

Removal

Removal is performed in the reverse order:

  1. Unhook the tension chain.
  2. Open the tensioning lever.
  3. Open the inner hook.
  4. Open the outer hook.
  5. Pull the chain down from the outer side.

Roadside repair

If necessary, the chain can be repaired on the road using connecting links (not included in the delivery set).

Care and service life

  • On roads cleared of snow and ice, it is recommended to remove the chains — otherwise they wear faster.
  • The service life depends on the speed and duration of driving on cleared surfaces.
  • Corrosion may form from salts and road de-icing agents.
  • If any defect is found, it is recommended to remove the chains immediately.

Safety measures

  • These chains are a supplement to the vehicle's equipment: they help you drive confidently on snow and ice, but require careful driving.
  • With chains fitted, the driving style changes: reduce speed on snow-covered roads in accordance with your experience.
  • Do not exceed the speed of 50 km/h.

Certification

In accordance with the Customs Union technical regulation “On the safety of wheeled vehicles” (TR CU 018/2011, Customs Union Commission decision No. 877 of 9 December 2011), anti-slip chains are not subject to mandatory certification.

Warranty

The warranty does not cover natural wear, nor wear caused by improper use or improper fitting of the chains.

Selection and models

The SOTA and LESENKA versions are available; the fitting procedure is common to both. You can select a set by tyre marking in the Anti-slip chains section, and the selection criteria are covered in the article How to select anti-slip chains.
